This is one that I've been wanting to do for a while. Parts like these are not cheap to have made, but you need to splurge on yourself every now and then. These sets are available on the Performance Parts Page!
The benefits of this are:
- More stable front end
- Ability to lose the goofy fuse holder
- Looks cool, of course!
The following parts will need to be modified or replaced:
Stock lower triple (stem removed permanently)
New tapered roller steering stem bearings installed
Upper and lower clamps replaced with new
I kept the geometry the same as stock. I suggest not running air pressure in the forks, so I always weld the air preload holes shut in the forks. The sets available have provisions for use of the stock air preload collars. As noted above, the stock stem was machined out of the lower triple and reused (for cost reasons). I love them!
